Went down to the island yesterday. The surf was like chocolate milk with all the shrimp boats out from. We fished behind the island again and did pretty good. Got stopped by the Game Warden, the were very nice and all went well. Get out there and catch em. Live shrimp is all you need.

Hey geaux_fish, is the surf really that dirty?? I was thinking of going surf fishing on Elmer's tomorrow but if it's that bad I ain't making the drive.

BTW you need a bigger ice chest. Specifically a Yeti.

We did pretty good this am. One boat had 75 and other had 58. Thought we had 75 in each boat but lost count apparently.

Early box shot

The water was dirty, and didn't see any bait in the surf. I imagine if the shrimp boats stay out there it will stay the same. You never know, i've caught trout surf fishing in dirty water before. I just cant see spending the money on a Yeti, ice is reasonably priced and I rarely keep fish in the ice chest for more than a day.

Bridgeside Marina had plenty but I imagine there will be 7 million people down there this weekend. There is a speckled trout rodeo at bridgeside. You may want to try and get them from somewhere else or leave a little earlier and throw the castnet off the bridges before you get to the island.

We tried a few shrimp today and all it caught was small trout and hardheads.

Guys, how do you think this front will affect tomorrow? Thinking of bringing the yak down tomorrow, but it's a long drive from NOLA for no fish.

Thanks for the heads up on the dirty surf.
