Going fishing out of Venice tomorrow with a charter. Only been offshore a couple times before. What kind of fish will we be going after this time of year (whats in season)? Thanks

Looks like a good weekend for the charter captains, everyone seems to be going out with one.

As mentioned, AJ ... Blackfin ... Mahi Mahi ... Mangrove snapper ... maybe some Grouper ... maybe a Yellowfin or two

Bring some Bonine or Dramamine ... And stay away from the booze

Going with Deep South- I saw where it looks like we can't catch red snapper till June 1st. Is that right?

That is correct.

Deep South catches fish. Nice boats too.

You can catch them on weekends (Fri-Sun) but not sure if Charter Captains can because they have to carry a federal reef permit which I believe makes it illegal for them to posses Red Snapper outside of the federal snapper season

Pretty much.

You can still catch mangrove snapper though.

I may or may not have seen some Yellarfins swimming this morning. I may or may not have seen some snapper on top the water this morning. This all may or may not have taken place in South Pass.

Due South of South pass there are 2 rigs at about 6 miles. The one to the West mayor may not be loaded with 15-20 lbs snapper

I heard a rumor about a group of guys that were confused about the snapper rules last weekend. Rumor has it they did really well.

Come out of south pass and head SE to the 12 mile rigs. The rig is a triple platform with catwalks connecting them. The platform to the far East might have mangroves on it that will bite a free lined live croaker
