Dirk, CP3, Howard, Shawn and whomever else put together?

quote:

It’s no secret that the Dallas Mavericks want to get a big star to pair with — and eventually take over the franchise mantle from — Dirk Nowitzki. And there are only two franchise-caliber players on the market this season, Chris Paul and Dwight Howard.

But to offer a max contract Dallas has to make a couple moves, and one of those may be trading the No. 13 pick in the draft, according to Chad Ford at ESPN.

Multiple sources have told ESPN.com’s Chad Ford the Mavs are likely to shop the pick in hopes of creating the cap space necessary to make a run at Dwight Howard in free agency.

The 13th overall pick has a cap hold of $1,655,300.

Favorite in the west

You can't crown them ahead of the Heat

Howard played with Kobe, Gasol and Nash and barely got a 6 seed. Any team with him on it will not be the favorite to win anything.

We heard this same shite with the Lakers signing Howard and Nash to go along with Kobe, Gasol, and company and we saw how that turned out. They would be good but Dirk is getting pretty old, CP3 has shown nothing to led anybody to believe he can consistently win in the playoffs, and Howard is a habitual underachiever. Only time would tell but I doubt it happens anyway

Howard produced. D'Antoni is just not a good coach.

Took them longer to mesh, I think CP3, Howard, and Dirk would mesh quicker than Lakers trio with Kobe wanting to be man and everyone else trying to fit in

I agree, but I can't see CP3 leaving LA, even though he'd have a much better shot at winning a title elsewhere

That could be part of it. Personally, I think the Lakers problems are they lack a great bench and they have a crappy coach. It seems like lots of contender teams have that guy who can come off the bench and really light up the scoreboard, and the Lakers don't really have that. And Mike D'Antoni? No explanation is really needed. The guy is not a great coach.

Tell me what Howard REALLY BRINGS............ Its NOT a post up game anymore. The dude COULD be a BEAST NBA player but has ZERO offensive game and wants the ball all the time... SOMETHING doesn't fit here............

He will lead the league in rebounds.

Didn't he finish in the top 5 in blocks this season too?
