What young veterans would be both desirable and attainable? I came up with a list of non PFs that have more than one year left on their deals and have either been put on the trade block in the past or appear potentially expendable now for position logjam or salary cap reasons. It's in fairly random order as I looked at the team rosters.

Young Veterans:
Eric Bledsoe
Wilson Chandler
Brandon Knight
Demar Derozan
Marshon Brooks
Taj Gibson
Derrick Williams (technically a PF but many of you think otherwise)
Alec Burks

Younger Veterans:
Jordan Hamilton
Evan Fournier
Tyler Zeller
Kyle Singler
Terrence Jones
Thomas Robinson
Terrence Ross

BTW, this list is meant to be exhaustive to spark discussion. I realize there may be guys here who either aren't worth the 6th pick or there's no way we'd get them for the 6th pick.

I like a whole lot 5 guys of the draft, debating on bennett... think their potentials are better than most of these guys listed.

I don't think there's a Top 5 in this draft, I think there is a top 6. I think Bennett is gone before we pick, dropping one of the other guys.

A lot of those guys are not worth it.

Demar Derozan

I'd love to get him if we could unload Gordon as well. I'd imagine they would want us to take back Bargnani though, so maybe Gordon and 6th for Derozan, Bargnani and a future 1st round pick?

Not to :beatdeadhorse: , but I mentioned DeRozan a month ago. He's established, versatile, and gonna be an all star. If he's available, it's a no brainier.

Burks would be interesting.

Utah needs a pg. Lets say they love Burke and hes on the board at 6. Anyway they could get Burks, 14, and 21? 6 and Roberts (a shooter to put around Favors/Kanter)?

My main issue with DeRozan is that he is a godawful outside shooter.

If we get him to replace Gordon, then either Anderson needs to be on the court more or we get a SF who can hit the 3.

Another great idea. Moving back makes a ton of sense and Burks has some talent. Franklin might still be on the board at 14..

frick no.

We'd be expected to eat $23m across two seasons for Bargnani, who is worthless to us and can't be moved, and whatever pick from Toronto would have heavy enough protections that we won't see it for years.

Ok well how do you feel about Landry Fields instead of Bargnani? He's due 13 mil over the next 2 years. As for Raptors pick, they only had a top 3 protection on the Lowry trade so I don't see why that couldn't apply in this trade.

Here's my one thing with Derozan:

Why do Raptors fans want to get rid of him? They seem very, VERY mixed on him, with a lot of them ready to move on. They say he is TERRIBLE on Defense, does nothing beyond the arc, doesn't provide much in the way of assists...etc.

Usually a young player with "all-star potential" doesn't have such a lukewarm reaction from their fanbase.

Still wouldn't be happy about it, but would be more willing to listen than on a Bargnani deal.

We'd "only" be eating $13m by getting him and he plays a position of need for us, even if he's not particularly good.

Bargnani is just a complete non-starter to me because he's paid so much and we're pretty stacked at the 4.

Landry Fields has been a total abortion in Toronto. No thanks.

I don't want to eat contracts. I want to rebuild the right way. Either use the pick. If we are somehow swindling a team and getting a bonafide STAR, or a young player on a cheap contract that could be a star, fine. But I'd rather be patient, and I sure as shite don't want to take on Landry fricking Fields on Bargnani.

I understand your point. But that's how fans are. You're not gonna get full support especially when a team consistently loses. I just know every time I watched him play, he jumped off the tv as the best player on the court.

He's not a very good outside shooter, but he's a scorer. He can improve his outside game.

You're just gonna have to trust me on this one.

No. No I'm not. I've watched him play about 5 times. He seemed like an above average player to me that could dunk. Didn't play defense, can't shoot from the arc worth a shite.

I'm not saying I'm completely against dealing for him, I'm just saying I don't see the All-Star in him.
