I can't see any reason to hate this team. Well, except for the Yankess and Man City owning them.

quote:

New York City FC is committed to seeking a new permanent stadium in New York. Until that time, the new team is arranging to play in an interim home beginning in its inaugural MLS season in 2015. Over the past year, MLS began discussions with the City of New York and other stakeholders about the possibility of constructing a new stadium in Flushing Meadows Corona Park (FMCP) in Queens. The Club’s new management will continue these discussions with local government officials, community residents and businesses, soccer leagues, and MLS. The Club will continue to review other potential sites as well.

“New York City FC will have a permanent home in the City in the great traditions of New York sports and world soccer -- a home that must be a sports, commercial and civic success,” Soriano said.

What grudge? The Cosmos ownership has been a pain in negotiations with MLS. There's a reason the Cosmos are a bunch of unsigned Indy league guys who play at tiny college fields.

Man, it looks to me like they will have all the capability to supersede LA Galaxy as the prime club for superstars on the tail end of their careers IMO. Huge deal for American soccer.

I know ... I know ... I just so upset about the whole thing. American soccer needs the Cosmos IMO. We need that history to connect with and it's an utter shame that they are not a MLS franchise.

Also we need the Cosmos to balance out the Galaxy ...

Meh. They did a lot of great things for US Soccer, but they also helped kill it off for more than a decade with their financial practices...part of the reason MLS is the way it is now.

Yea...a club in some place like Miami or Orlando or St. Louis would have been so much better than a club playing in New York City.

Get outta here.

This club will be fantastic to follow, great to love for some, great to hate for others. It will be in an exciting atmosphere and setting if they do in fact get that brilliant 35K stadium in Corona Park. This has tremendous potential. Also there will be a built in rivalry with Red Bull.

Cosmos just don't have their shite together.

I already hate this team Man City & Yankees

Only thing that would have been worse would have been to swap the Blue moon for a Red Devil

Every league needs a villain, right?

I definitely see this as a good thing for MLS. They will attract bandwagoners in droves, and that's a good thing. This should help generate the TV revenue required in order to further MLS's manifest destiny, which hopefully includes a franchise in the Southeast that is not in the state of Florida.

Perhaps their shirts will have sky blue pinstripes.
