I've heard that Sam Barham applied also.

This is a 'destination' job (as are the other ZHS coaching jobs) for a high school coach at this point, I would think.

Yea I believe he did but wasn't one of the finalists. With the salary I would agree with it being a destination job. Scotlandville in your district is tough though.

I'm partial to him because I consider him a friend and he was my coach. He is about as good of a person as you will find.

Out of those 3 I would say don green has the better resume, he has a few rings and has won everywhere he has been. Don't know much about Elmo, does solid at Woodlawn and st Michael before that. Hargroder has a connection to Zachary AD from his days at redempt

The facilities are very nice, Just cant see it being a "Destination job", haven't really had that much recent success and seems to be limited talent wise. On the other hand, nice community/school system for a coach with young kids.

Recently, yes there hasn't been much talent, but in the 90's you had a lot of talent, including kedrick brown (top 10 pick in the nba draft) and jamar mcknight (started at Clemson). Zachary has adequate, uh *ahem*, population demographics to have a good basketball program.

I think for now it could be a destination job for most sports on salary and facilities alone. With warren drake leaving, who knows about the future. Not a great basketball district other than scotlandville. Football on the other hand.....I wonder how safe Weiner is. They got rid of bob Howell to bring a flashy offense in and he had some solid years but gets pounded in the first round every year and they don't play defense. I know Howell had them in 4A but he had better long term success than Neil so fat

As much as I like Weiners style, Howell had more consistent success. Weiner is a heck of a coach but I cant see Zachary being relevant on a statewide scene for the foreseeable future.

no doubt neil is a great offensive coach. He has some athletes in school and can put the points up but they are soft and cant stop anyone. In my personal opinion, running that type of offense makes you soft, takes the better athletes and puts them on offense, and doesn't put your defense in the best position. You can go three and out real quick or score real quick, either way you are putting your defense on the field more so than most offenses. As you said, Bob Howell was more consistent overall and he had the wishbone / pound ground game.
