Question about freshwater fishing after a storm

I've heard it isn't that effective because the water is all stirred up, limiting visibility. The water at the place I plan to go to is already pretty brown, so I figure sight isn't the number one hunting sense for the fish in this lake anyway.
Is the issue sight alone or do fish also just tend to lay low after a storm?

I am no Bill Dance but I have always noticed the bite slows down a little bit after a heavy rain. It usually picks back up where it left off a couple hours later. I personally think that the bite slows down naturally just because they were overly aggressive just before the rain. Now, I have definitely caught them right after a rain storm before but the bite is slower. Water clarity is not the issue because I have caught plenty of bass in chocolate milk before. If you are fishing in murky water, use dark colors for soft plastics (dark blue, black with red, etc). Also, helps to put some glass and brass under your bullet weight for some chatter.

Depends on what you're fishing for. If I'm not mistaken, bass have pretty poor eyesight and rely more on vibration.

Depends on what you are fishing for. Crappie don't give a shite...
I've had some of my best crappie fishing in storms, in cold..etc..

Depends, if its post cold front, it could shut em down. If its in the Summer, a good shower can turn em on. Where I fish, I need a rain to get some current going, then its on....It positions them where I can work on em...

Is it bad if I'm not much of a plastics guy? For freshwater I've got more spinning and crank baits.
I don't have a ton of freshwater experience. My main type of fishing has been using cutbait out of Galveston for red fish and black tips.

Lately i have been going fishing 10 minutes after a big storm and wearing fish out. Dont know the reason. If fish wanna bite, they gonna bite

The bream bite is better after a storm imo. Supposed to be something to do with the rain knocking bugs off trees into the water.

A school of thought is fish may turn on after a rainstorm because of the food washed into the water system, such as night crawlers, reptiles. bugs, and such.

My buddy and I used to fish Lake Martin near Lafayette many moons ago and during summer months, the fish would go crazy after a t-storm. Coulda been pressure differences along with the water getting aerated, who knows. Was definitely different than an all day type system that generally shut down the bite.
