FACT

If loving this is wrong then I'm wrong. If loving this is gay I ain't gay but I'll joke about it.

Best thing about graduating so far is that I got to watch this in two days.

I mean seriously, this is some good stuff. I put it over Two Weeks Notice now by a country mile.

Is it just me or is Jennifer/Ehle like super fine in this? Man I know what Mr Darcy was going through bc just watching I was wanting some of that. Something about a smart girl with some self respect and big titties that does it for me. Surprised she didn't get some better roles after this, very good actress.

I love Keira Knightley, and she's hot too. But, Jennifer Ehles Elizabeth>>>>>>> Keira Knightleys. And the movie in general.

Anybody else a fan?

I've only seen the Keira Knightley version and I really want to see the Colin Firth version from the early 90s. Keira needs to eat 20 sammiches in a row she's so thin.

Yes. I love mr. Bennett and how he enjoys tormenting his nutty wife. She asks him something about how he can be so cruel, not caring for her wits. He says but her wits have been his dear companion all these years. Or something to that effect. Mr. Collins is great as well in the Colin firth version.

Love that scene. Also when Mrs Bennett is throwing a fit bc Elizabeth won't marry mr Collins and she wants Mr Bennett to convince her to. He's like "no matter what you decide, you won't see one of your parents ever again, mrs Bennett if you do, and me if you don't."

He was perfect. Lady Catherine Deberg when they were in her house and she would like cut him off and he would throw his pointer finger up to his mouth like to tell himself to shut up but yet be happy about it.

Oh yes. That was a great scene.

It never fails. Every time I hear him talk about the lady Catherine deberg I laugh out loud.

Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy probably ruined me for life.

I'm a big Austen fan though. And Firth/Ehle's rendition is more true to the book (largely because of it being a mini-series).

I did think the miniseries was better but enjoyed the recent version as well. A funny twist on the story is a British miniseries called "Lost in Austen" where a modern day Austen fan trades places with Elizabeth Bennett--she winds up in the story-come-to-life, messing a bit with the plot lines and Elizabeth is living life in modern day London.

I actually like a lot of the 90s Austen movies like Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Mansfield Park. Some get further away from the books, but are still really entertaining and have some great casts (I'm always tempted to bring some up when we have those "best ensemble cast" threads). I also liked the more recent Pride and Prejudice but Colin Firth makes Mr. Darcy for me.

Because no guy will ever be Colin Firth/his Mr. Darcy? That's hard to live up to.
