That's how long I made it before I finally shut down this catastrophe
I'm an in awe of just how terrible this movie was. And I like mindless entertainment that has no intrinsic artistic value. This was beyond simply terrible, the script alone wasnt worth worthy enough to be printed on a roll of Charmin.
how, Hollywood? how, Bruce? How in the everliving frick did this ever make it past treatment? It's been a long time since I just turned a movie off halfway thru. Had I not been messing around on the internet trying to find out how Mary Elizabeth Winstead got so fat (the only scene she was in, she look snake-bit) I assuredly would have stopped the movie earlier based on the dialogue alone.
what a shame

I haven't seen any of the new ones since "With A Vengeance", so I just looked them up. The last one had Justin Long and Kevin Smith? Woof. No thanks.

The horrible thing about this film is that this was the first film in the franchise in which the script was intended to be a Die Hard film, all the others were written as something else or sequels to other films which were eventually adapted into the Die Hard franchise.

Movies like that are why I have hope that my screenplay will get picked up

Aren't all the Die Hard films terrible?
Posted on 5/15/13 at 11:03 pm to BradPitt
1st one is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, action film(s) of all time. rest are meh

The first film is legitimately one of the greatest action films ever made. It transformed the genre.
So, you aren't too bright.

Bruce Willis should be tied up and dragged behind a truck for this.

obviously, the original was great, and I can even get behind 3 & 4, for mindless entertainment, they were great. The 2nd was....OK, still not a BAD movie
this most recent one: bad, like turd sandwich bad
I've never had any notion to attend a premiere, but I wish I would have been able to go to this one, just so I could watch the audience, I dont think an Oscar winner could honestly sit in a theater, watch this turd and shine it on

AND HE WASNT EVEN REALLY ON VACATION!!!!
He went there specifically to find and help his son!!
As if this steaming pile of shite needed anything tangible to make it any worse, but the constant use of that horribly misplaced line, stolen from fricking CITY SLICKERS btw, was just the most insulting part of the whole thing for me. Just showed the complete lack of effort put into the "script"/story.
I'm not sure I'll ever be able to enjoy a Bruce Willis movie again for staining the John Maclain character so shamefully.

What line was stolen from City Slickers?

Mitch would say that line when he had to do anything gross or outdoorsy cause he was....... a CITY SLICKER. He ended up yelling it as the cow was dragging him after he walked over and placed the lasso over the cow's head instead of throwing the lasso.
It made perfect sense in that movie. In fricking Die Hard, when John specifically went to freaking Russia to search for and help his imprisoned terrorist son, not so much.

Wow Carson. Every once in a while, you surprise me.
I enjoyed With a Vengeance if for no other reason than the rapport between Willis and Jackson. That was great stuff.

just watched this movie and had to bump this thread just so I can say how terribly awful this piece of shite was. there were absolutely zero redeeming qualities about this movie and i'm one of the few who enjoyed live free or die hard. this was beyond the worst I could imagine. it appears someone had a lot of blank rounds and automobiles lying around that had to be disposed of so they decided to create this movie. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
