“I’ve been thinking about doing this for a couple of years now,” said Harris, who perfoms under the name Jay DatBull. His first single “DatBull 4 Life,” was uploaded to YouTube in late April and has surpassed 50,000 views. Harris said he made his decision to forego football about a week before the video debuted. He knew people would watch it, Harris said, but not that many in such a short time.

A mixtape is slated for a June 1 release and Harris said he plans to work with a professional producer this summer. “I try to take advantage of every opportunity I get and for him to like my music and reach it to me, I really appreciated that,” Harris said. Read more at

Kids really are getting dumber each say.

ETA: Not correcting it because I love the irony.

I wonder if he realizes the qualifications to be a rapper is just to merely say "I'm a rapper now." It doesn't mean you're any good or have a record deal. Now if he was deciding between college and a record deal from Jay-Z, I'd understand.

he should have gone to MSU and taken all the music and business classes he could to help prepare for that rap career.

Don't know why he couldn't rap and still play ball but whatever. He'd have to cut back on the weed smokin if he played football though

Looks like the video was filmed on the mean streets of suburban Vermont.

Why can't he go to college AND rap? It worked for Swiper Boy, who brought us such hits as "Eric Berry" and "Won't Leave You Like Kiffin."

It's his life. Let him live it how he wants. Nothing wrong with pursuing what you enjoy and want to do with your life.

He will come out with a statement in a couple of days saying that all of the haters will only fuel him.

I guess, but even as a rapper, you need to be smart. Do you know how many uneducated entertainers get ripped off by record labels, agents, or investors because they are too stupid to protect themselves?

Go to Michigan State, play ball, get an education in business or management, and then go be a rapper. You will already be a bigger name and that could help sell records.

Look ten years down the road, not ten months.

That "song" is horrible.

Zac Sells pretty much nailed it.
