Bill to ban possesion of red snapper
Would ban all recreational and commercial fishermen from possessing red snapper. The main purpose of this bill is to get the NOAA director to have to testify before congress. This is a pretty big deal.

No, it's to get the restaurant lobby to get on board. The commercial sector has had almost no impact to their seasons over the last decade. They readily testify they are catching more and larger snapper than ever and not traveling near the distance. Best analogy impact wise would be closing the LOOP would have on refining, this would do to dining.

If you read it, he says he will park the bill if the director of noaa will testify before legislature. This will show the cooked numbers that they are reporting that they base their harvest reports off.

Its extreme, but i have no problem with it. I have been so disgusted with all of this. How do we go from fishin til august to 9 days in 4 years. Its a joke

Well we know he won't do it, he'll have his teleconferences and wave his wand over the guys and gals on the council and make the back room deals like he did with FL.
No need to for anyone to get their panties in a wad, a lot of this was anticipated. When redfish were endangered what did they do? Shut the season down, yet commercial harvest have been basically unmolested for the last decade and recs in La have gone from 127 days to 9 in same time period. Something smells. Cut the commercial and restaurant industries nuts with one swipe. Don't let snapper boats hit state waters or our docks, somebody will come to the table.

I like the idea of it. I will take a few seasons off if it means getting rid of these bullshite seasons we are forced to have right now.

It is time...there needs to be reason and rationality put back into the management of our fisheries.
This gamesmanship needs to come to an end.

We have some frustrating months ahead I can assure you of that. We are talking about the people that will be handling our healthcare, did you expect anything short of excellence?

We have seen many people lie to congress including presidents and nothing was done because our constitution and laws are severly broken. So how will this help. Dont get me wrong every time we discuss snapper regs it ticks me off, but the most screwed up things in the country originated in DC. :beatdeadhorse:
