Tiger and Sergio the Rivalry that Should Have Been But Never Was

This should have been the rivalry.
Both about the same age. There's a five year difference.
Both hailed as the next big thing.
Both skilled and extremely talented.
From different sides of the world.
More importantly, there was genuine animosity. These two men did not and do not like each other.
There's none of this mutual respect shite. These guys legitimately want the other to fail.
This should have been the rivalry that defined golf for two decades.
But it never happened
Sergio couldn't keep pace. Sergio choked and had a mental breakdown. He had all the skill and talent in the world, but couldn't deal with the pressure.
Rather than a rivalry for the ages, we got Tiger dominating older, established pros and rookies. We never got to see him go toe to toe with someone his own age (roughly).
Oh well...would have been nice.
frick you Sergio.

Sergio spends too much time whining about anything he can think of to ever be an actual competitor to Tiger.

That's what I meant by "couldn't handle the pressure." He has all the tools, but he just could not handle being the man...or beating the man.
I can remember when he first came along. Everyone was hyping him, and it looked like he had all the tools to challenge Woods, but he never put it together. Then, he got worse and worse and worse.
ETA: I'm waiting for someone to yell from the gallery ,"Hit the damn ball Sergio!" Oh memories.

Sergio should start doing commercials for a water company.

Always said it. Sergio is the most over rated, over hyped golfer yet. What a fricking joke.

YUP! I don't often laugh out loud watching golf. Today, I've counted three times in 20 minutes.
I think I'll get up to six during the post match press conference when Sergio blames the birds, his playing partner, the gravitational pull of the earth and the gallery for his water balls.

If a guy is directly responsible for your salary increasing by 200% or more over the last 15 years or so, I bet you'd like him too.

I have never been a fan of Sergio, but it was painful to watch his last two holes today. I felt badly for him.

Big time players make big time shots in big time games.
Sergio=/=big time player.
Sergio=/=big time player.

Agree 100%
The same thing could be said about David Duval, but to a much higher degree in terms of a total collapse.

Your definitions of skilled and talented must differ greatly from mine. Sergio is a fricking joke.
The cheers for tiger probably distracted Sergio today. I'm sure it's all tigers fault in Sergio's mind.
