And you can easily make the case Texas does not have a better class at this point. The only reason they are #1 is sheer numbers.

Yeah, don't wanna "Ron Powlus" us. Based on pure star power though, this class would be better than/on par with those ridiculous USC classes from the late Carroll era. Plus the incoming class, we could be pretty sick for the next few years.

As much as I love how this class is shaping up, there is still one position that we need at least 1-2 elite guys at and that's DT. We can't afford to miss there this year if we truly want to make a run in 2014-2016. If Bain, Gilmore or Lacoutre go down or are a bust, we are right back at square 1 with no depth. You can't go through Bama or UF without being solid or elite up front, aTm maybe, bc you can use your LB's and secondary as weapons like we did in our 3-3-5 formation.

Willis is dead set on playing DE so we need guys like McDowell to get bigger or land some big

I agree. We need to close well with this class. Getting these 5 star bombs early is a good trend, as it should start the momentum swing. Bama is looking to poach some of the instate guys, and the REC is loaded, so discount them at your own peril. They work the back channels better than anything I've ever seen in recruiting. Still, its going to be an awesome class..
