Okay, this debate has raged since that final scene of the Sopranos... was Tony Soprano killed in that diner? I think a lot of people are divided on this subject, and even though there is a lot of evidence that shows Tony was most likely killed, I have never been able to completely say he was or wasn't. What is you guys' opinion on this subject?

He is alive, the top is still spining, and she dropped it on purpose.

Never seen much of the show, but he's dead. And here's why. (if you have a minute...or several hundred)

I think the way the series ended is a tribute to David Chase's style. He's the kind of writer who lets the viewer decide for themselves the outcome of a certain situation, he doesn't believe in every story-line having closure the way you would expect.

Take for example the Russian mobster story-line, although Christopher and Paulie beat him up pretty good and Paulie shot him, the Russian mobster's fate is never revealed to the point where the viewer would feel "closure" on the story-line. One could guess and say, well, he probably died in the Pine Barrens, but maybe he survived? There's no question he was one tough SOB, so you never know.

Cocomo, lol, I was actually about to mention MasterofSoprano's incredible breakdown of that final scene! I have read it before, and it's an amazing in-depth view of that last scene, he breaks it down in every way possible. And yes, given all the facts, it is most likely that Tony died at the hands of the Members-Only-Guy, who I believe was mostly likely a relative or friend of Phil Leotardo's, seeking revenge for Phil's death.

This is basically what it boils down to. Tony's life was always in danger, and even if he wasn't killed at Holsten's that night, it could have happened the next night, or the night after that. A mobster's life is always in a precarious situation, when you are in that world, you could be "whacked" at any time, for many different reasons. Tony most definitely had a lot of enemies in his life, and especially after the bloody feud with Phil Leotardo, he knew that at any time, a hitman from New York could come for him.

Not to mention that he most likely was headed to prison because of Carlo Gervasi becoming an informant who would testify against Tony. So things were not looking up for Tony at the end of the series.

If you really wanted to know why, I might consider explaining it. If you want debate...sorry, the scene speaks for itself
