I'm doing the same. Can't decide if, or when, to get in.

It's easy. If a stock is undervalued, you buy it. If a stock is overvalued, you stay away.

That is the long term strategy. If you're looking to make a quick buck, you could always crash the Mt.Gox bitcoin exchange and buy on the pullback.

Nobody knows when or if a correction will occur, only that a swing in the market is inevitable based on historic trends. It may be today or it could be tomorrow or sometime next year or even afterward.

The million dollar question is how much potential return have you missed out on by having your money on the sidelines during the past 12 months? Odds are you've already missed the greatest opportunity to generate the highest return.

There is huge amounts of data showing that trying to time the market doesnt work. For that reason, I'm always in and to the extent that I can I'm indexing out...

So easy, a Vol fan can do it. And does, btw.

it is coming just a matter of time. however, i will admit i just bought 6 nice dividend payers yesterday. i will buy about 19 more once the correction happens OR if the correction does not happen by mid summer just buy and DCA on them the rest of the way until i have the amount of shares i want. or just buy them flat out and then buy more once market dips. plenty of ways to protect against the correction. i agree though with others sitting out long term could bite you in the arse missing out on returns. which is why if this correction has not happened by this summer i am going in in some form or fashion.

Question for you guys thinking a correction is coming, why do you feel that way?

It seems like low interest rates are driving capital into the equities market, which over the last year, doesn't seem at all affected by any kind of "less than good news" with jobs and consumer spending.

Not saying a correction isn't coming eventually but why does it seem "eminent"?

Who knows, I know people who've been waiting for it since the 12k djia and other indexes across the board accordingly. I guess they'll get some steals now when they get in at 13k and show all us "losers" how it's done
