Any real hot spots to crab on land, around the new orleans area and surrounding areas within 30-45 mins? Looking to take the family crabbing without a boat. Just have a good day, somewhere not really crowded

crab boxes in the water, as long as they are open at the top, they aren't technically trapped and caught. You can reach in with your fishing pole and catch all of them with quite ease.

There are spots along Chef Hwy east of the Chef Pass bridge. North side of the road is the Chef, south side is Marquez canal/Lake Katherine. Some spots are old vacant campsites, but people fish/crab there pretty often.

Lake Rd in Lacombe. Right next to the road and you can do the line/net method.

The best spot I ever found was behind the seawall in Kenner behind woodlake along that canal that butts up to st. Charles Parish. Best we ever did was one hamper in an hour just running nets. Corps of enigineers fricked it all up though in recent years.
