Leaving in the morning to stay a week at the Eden Condo. They have a private boat dock across the street in Old River. Anyone ever fish Old River and had any luck? I plan on fishing the rocks in the Pass @ Orange Beach I always have luck there. Just curious about Old River. TIA

Old River is just the area in between Ono and the mainlaind, correct?

If it is, it's more of a thoroughfare, and shallow. I havent seen many fish over there or people fishing, except the occasional kid on the dock

You have a boat? If so, I have a spot that is almost always a sure thing for reds.

Old River is at certain times of the year a great place to fish for Specs, flounder etc. It runs the south side of ONO Island all the way to perdido key. I've fished it mostly at night around docks that have lights for Specs.

I have not fished much lately so I couldn't tell you what's biting, when, where and etc. inshore now. Call Sam's, Mo's , top gun or J & M and ask for a report. Pensacola fishing forum is a place to look as well for reports. Good Luck

Bucktail Jig. White with red trim.

Bluefish and snapper of all kinds kill it. Bring a cast net and snag some bait fish for a alternate means.

I stayed at the Eden a couple of years ago and caught some decent size redfish off of the beach. Caught a ton of lady fish and a couple of little sharks. All of this was off of the beach. Using shrimp.

If there are lights on that dock you will catch trout. Wait til late night when everything is quiet. When the tide is moving free line a live shrimp or a doa just outside the light.

You were just surf fishing with dead shrimp? Ive never had any luck. What kind of set up did you have?

Used a 2oz pyramid weight. I would get up about 8 stories high at the condo and look at the water to see where there was a horshoe shap to the second sand bar. I would then go down and try to fish the inside of the horseshoe. On the Ladyfish I would just throw a Rattletrap or a Gotcha plug. I was using my bass fishing equipment so it was a lot of fun.

This is about the size of the sharks I was catching although I caught this one at Destin last year.

I am only around during the day down there, but there are a lot of docks. It's pretty much lined with them.

Listen to this man....never caught anything during daylight.

Have your fishing license with you-have seen the GW in that area.

Everything I catch is right at daylight up until about 8:30. Never fished at night though.
