No one knows for sure, but it was around the time we lost Cooper and hired Raymond. My guess would be he didn't see playing time under the new management.

He didn't like Raymond's coaching style and wasn't willing to be as physical as he was being asked to be.

i thought he was in decent standing as far as playing time went. equal or even ahead of jalen collins.

i think he just didn't like raymond.

This was also my understanding.

Victors (and the coaches who remain with the team) write the history of such conflicts, so it's easy to see how a "he wasn't tough enough" explanation suffices.
We may never know.
Wasn't Jenkins among the most highly rated cover corners?
His loss is not insignificant.

The gauntlet drill our DBs do made him quit.

While I won't try to dispute the possible personality conflict mentioned by folks above, there was a more specific situation that also led to Jenkins parting ways with LSU. And it had more to do with Chavis than anyone else.

You must fremember that during the 2012 Spring Drills how Chavis came out of the 1st scrimmage hot as a hornet's nest - prrimarily about the lack of physicality of our cornerbacks. He spit venom to the media, and followed it up with a punishing drill in the very next practice (captured on video by all of the beat writers).

For whatever reason, Jenkins was singled out as the whipping boy (poster boy???) for wimpiness by Chavis. And by the end of Spring Drills, Jenkins had no interest in remaining with our team.

Who knows if Jenkins was truly less physical than Claiborne, Simon, and Collins. It's kinda hard to believe, as none of them ever showed much interest in sticking their nose in a ball carrier's chest. If he was truly wimpier than those guys, I swear he must have turned and ran away from any and all ball carriers.

I thought it was because Jenkins was soft.. he wasn't physical enough.

Do you try to be that awful, or does it just come naturally to you?

I remember some big cat footage where one of the DB's who I think was Jenkins didn't really go all out and Chavis lit into him. Can't exactly remember if it was truly Jenkins, but could be a symptom of a possible problem if it was.

Looks like Chucky Hunter is definitely starting, will be interesting there. Lots of folks on our side wanted him in P&G.

I remember watching footage of one of the guantlet drills. I don't think Jenkins even made it to the very ending before walking off. The DB coach was laying into him.

He may be a new starter for tcu but tcu is no LSU. Who knows if he would have cracked the starting line up for us. Having said that, he would have been nice to have on the depth chart bc he could have been used last year.
