Just received a shipment of crawfish and my plan was to cook them today but due to bad weather I will have to hold off until tomorrow. That being said I'm looking for an easy way to preserve them, they came in a ice chest with gel packs. Could I just leave them like that overnight?

They are frozen?

ETA: If not, the other guy has it right...cool and wet.

You could probably just leave them outside as cool as it is. Just keep them good and wet.

Spray them down with a bit of water. The bugs are aquatic in nature and need moisture to breathe.

Thanks Cit. I too was worried the OP might have thought his crawfish were avian in nature. He could have wasted hours tethering his sack of crawfish against impending flight.

I like to keep them in a cooler sitting on a bag of ice and put a wet towel over them. DO NOT keep them submerged in water.

Spray with hose every now and then. but make sure there is drainage.

If you have a truck, you can use your tailgate. Make sure you in covered parking, lay towels on your tailgate. Lay sacks down, hose a little bit, cover with towels and ice. Melting ice will keep them moist. Add ice throughout night as needed.
