I ave no idea why they waited so long to open it up but apparently ammo boxes are great for storing stuff. There was 5' of water in the bunker...

For more than a decade after they moved into their house in Neenah, Wisconsin, the Zwick family knew they had a Cold War bunker in their backyard.
It was not until 2010 that anyone thought to open the heavy steel hatch, climb down the ladder and explore the 8-foot-by-10-foot chamber that the home's previous owner had built to protect his family from a nuclear attack.
Floating in five feet of water that had seemed into the bunker were sealed U.S. Army boxed packed with all of the supplies a family would need to survive two weeks underground.

How do you live in a home for 10 years and know that there is a fallout shelter in the back yard and never check it out?

As usual you have to go to the Daily Mail to get all the interesting American stories with good pictures.
Neat to see that old stuff so well preserved. I wonder how deep the shelter was underground?

I used to have and FBI agent living bout 3 houses down. We didn't like each other so much. Pretty sure he was spying on me. In fact, I know he was.
