You forgot the devil and mad scientist. They really fricked up the plot by putting that many threads of evil through it. I see the relevence and purpose as it plays into insanity and delusion of the mentally sickened minds of asylum patients but it was quite overwhelming.

I watched and enjoyed the entire first season. I got about three episodes into the second season and thought it was just way too much so I stopped watching and figured it was off my list.
With season 3 being set in New Orleans I'll give it another shot. I hope they return to the creepy and mysterious atmosphere that I enjoyed in the first season instead of the throw every plot conceivable route like they did in season 2.

From what I've read I think the new season will be more like the first.
