Liverpool doesn't have depth. At all. Don't forget every other attacker got hurt in the first half of the season...and they were already undermanned.

Yea, he played a majority of the first half of the season alongside two teenagers, Sterling and Suso. That cannot be understated enough.

I'd probably take him above Bale, but I'm probably in the minority.

I would as well. Bale just doesn't do it for me. He's a highlight player. If I were building a team from scratch I would take Cazorla, Mata, Hazard, Suarez, RVP, Carrick, Gerrard, Silva and Toure over him.

Most consistent player over the course of the entire season IMO.

A typical Hollywood team. No balance, and multiple players who occupy the same space.

I don't think it really matters. They are just trying to pick the best 11 players from the year.

Did Rio really deserve to be part of the best 11?

No Mata, no Vertongen. Arsenal's transfers lately have been pretty shitty.

I would definitely pick Suarez. By far the best player this year. Bale and RVP can duke it out for second.

Oh I know. Just personal preference. I like seeing balanced teams because it values positions that aren't traditionally valued. In that TOTY, the seemingly only thing that is being valued is attacking power, which IMO is an injustice to the holding mids/defensive mids.

A reasonable debate. He didn't play the entire season, but he was a fricking rock when he did. Evans also has a solid season for United though.

I would go like this:

1. Suarez
2. van Persie
3. Bale
4. Zabaleta
5. Africa Cup of Nations (for Man. United)

I would have..

1. Suarez
2. Bale
3. Van Persie

I could prob swap Bale (does he take penalties) and Van Persie and would probably have Mata 4th..

Also, while I think he's talented and has shown flashes, i would not have Hazard in the first team... I'd probably opt for Cazorla..

Ryan Giggs won this award like two years ago. Tells you all you need to know about its legitimacy.

I'd probably have Gerrard, Fellaini or Dembele instead of Hazard. Brings a little stability and balance.

Gerrard-Carrick-Mata

Bale-RVP-Suarez

the guy´s silky smooth IMO, he´d benefit from a more technical game. He´s less ´toro´than Negredo. His side, and the league´s game frick him up.

He's good, but he's got a lot to learn. He's been in the Prem a while now, and his developmental phase has pretty much run its course. Relies on his physical skills, like you say, a lot more than his technical ability. Where would you see him fitting in? Atletico?

He´s perfect for Sevilla. Yeah, with Falcao gone, and Simeone staying on, I could see him at Atlético as well.

He´d also do well at a Betis or Real Sociedad.

I wouldn't mind seeing him and Medel's crazy arse in the same midfield

Would love to see his talent stay in England. Everton has reached their peak, unfortunately, so I imagine he'll be on the move soon enough.

Mata was our board's fault. Who knows how far along we were with Vertongen. I rate him pretty highly, but he was rather unnecessary since we had 3 CBs and a young, highly rated LB.

Yea what a joke. It's a popularity contest. He should have run away with the honor.

lulz

great year but no, RVP had so much more of an impact this year. Bale is a lock for young player of the year.
