Hey dipshit, a family member of mine went to multiple doctors for the treatment of lupus over 20 years

Turns out she had hepatitis the whole time and never treated for it

So a witch doctor would have been just as effective. Did I say multiple doctors over TWENTY years. Oh yea, I believe I did.

But go ahead and keep believing that science is always spot on

I was telling my golfing buddy yesterday that I've lived in Shreveport-Bossier for over 40 years and this is the coldest April I can remember.

A lot of the seeds I planted 3 weeks ago have still not germinated.

If medical science is so exact why do they call what you do "practicing" medicine?

re: 2nd coldest Spring in US history

quote:

Thats whats wrong with science. When scientists come out with some new theory they make you fell like an idiot for not believing them and questioning something that is supposedly a given fact. And then a few years down the road after they continue to research, their beliefs take a 180 and they come out with a new theory or hypothesis they want you to buy into that completely contradicts previous given facts. They are like the boy who cried wolf. Eventually everyone will stop being so submissive to science. People need to understand that the majority of science is nothing but logical, educated guesses in attempt to explain the world around us. As time goes on we gain more information through research and experiments and those guesses change due to a change in information. It is inevitable that most of those theories will change dozens of more times because in reality we know so little about the universe we live in. Now that doesn't mean we should ignore everything scientists say, we should just be skeptical and not truly believe in things like global warming until conclusive evidence is given.

You are absolutely right. People who don't understand and accept that fact are people who have never done or understand science.

Solo sé que no sé nada.

Newton was wrong. And Einstein will probably be proven wrong because of something we don't know yet. The more you know the more you realize you don't know.

Time to re-seed. They're toast.

No kidding though, I've had to reseed my garden(parts of it) 3 times due to the heavy rain that falls the day after I seed.

I just seeded again yesterday and this morning another freaking heavy rain falls.

And, this April has been cool. Plants slow to grow and produce and they have been in the ground over a month.

re: 2nd coldest Spring in US history

Well, look what I just found. I was looking for a book in my little library room and found a kids book by some environmentalist named Billy Goodman.

It's propaganda for elementary school kids. I have no idea how it got into my house.

Here's the prediction: Scientists say that the earth will warm by 8 degrees in the next 30 years.

The book was published in 1990. Since 1990 the earth has not warmed even 1 degree. So, if the prediction is going to be correct by 2020, we will have to see 8 degrees warming in the next 7 years.

BTW, in the 'how you can help' section he tells kids to use hand twisting pencil sharpeners instead of electric pencil sharpeners. Yep, that will save the planet.

Actually Einstein's theories were just given its toughest test yet when a rotating binary system of a massive neutron star and a white dwarf causing gravitational waves was measured against the results expected in Einstein's equations...and he was spot on.

btw Neutron stars are badass...25 miles across with the gravitational field 300 billion times stonger than our sun

Also for all you posting 'oh its cool here, must be no warming'

Local temperatures mean dick
The global average temperature increased .5C last year even in the presence of a strong La Nina AND the end of the solar minimum. It was the 9th hottest year on record in a decade of the 10 hottest.

I never said medical science is so exact. I just when i read "you cant put any faith in science" which is just soo rich. You disagree? You also put no faith in science?

I wish I could find that damn time capsule I buried at my Elementary School in 1977. I'm pretty sure I included a tearful ode to humanity begging for shelter in the coming Ice Age the scientists were scaring the shite out of me about.

We are -4 on the month, avg temp Still 4" of snow on the ground and snowing like crazy right now, which is unheard of this time of year at sea level.

Winter started a month early this year as well, looks like another year without a summer. We've had two of the snowiest months ever the past 5 years, something has changed. I'll bet the icefield starts expanding again in a few years.

Skepticism isn't about not having faith in science. It's the very essence of evaluating science...we're SUPPOSED to be skeptical. That's how the scientific method advances. And, frankly, I'm getting tired of people who know nothing about science telling me that I know nothing about science.

Here it does, since we are supposed to be the poster child for the damage climate change can cause. Moving villages, changing habitat, species stressing out. I really don't care what happens in the Southern hemisphere.

Maybe 13 years isn't enough to call it significant, but it roughly equates to the amount of time we were warming.

The Juneau Icefield behind the town is the snowiest place on earth in all likelihood. Some places average over 1,000 inches of snow annually and with the warming seasons significantly shrinking, I would expect to see some changes in the local glaciers soon.

Damn if it wasn't for pollutants we would live to 120 years old. As it is we only have extended life expectancy by 20 years or so since the 1950's.

Funny. I wonder why every insurance company and most medical journals suggest you get a second opinion. Could be because they know your first MD is using all his science to come up with his 'best guess'

Doesn't really inside complete faith does it?

I have a 40 year old science book that most would laugh at its contents, yet I'm told to trust science on the ozone, global warming, etc

Science is basically making an educated guess until something better comes along. The problem is that in the case of global warming the chief moneymakers arent willing to concede defeat quite yet
