State of Wash removes sexist terms from state vocabulary

http://www.theblaze.com/blog/2013/04/23/penmanship-is-apparently-sexist-who-knew/

quote:

Washington state’s governor signed into law on Monday the final piece of a six-year effort to rewrite state laws using gender-neutral vocabulary, replacing terms such as “fisherman” and “freshman” with “fisher” and “first-year student.” Lawmakers have passed a series of bills since 2007 to root out gender bias from Washington statutes, though a 1983 state mandate required that all laws be written in gender-neutral terms unless a specification of gender was intended. “This was a much larger effort than I had envisioned. Mankind means man and woman,” said Democratic state Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles of Seattle. The new gender-neutral references, for example, include “journey-level plumber” instead of “journeyman plumber,” “handwriting” in place of “penmanship,” and “signal operator” for “signalman.” “There’s no good reason for keeping our legal terms anachronistic and with words that do not respect our current contemporary times,” Kohl-Welles, the 475-page bill’s sponsor, told Reuters.

Control The Language and You Control The People.
Revolution 101.
It's a Long March and it requires that Reactionary language is eliminated by State Decree.
This is natural and desirable and in the best interests of The People and The State.
Forward !

This country has taken a turn for the surreal. Over the past 4 1/2 years or so of the Obama presidency, it's like the liberal nuts are feeling emboldened and are coming out of the woodwork with all their bat shite crazy ideas.

More on the matter

Take a look at this quote from Liz with the National Woman's Law Center, and you should get an idea of what fuels this crap.

quote:

"Words matter," said Liz Watson, a National Women's Law Center senior adviser. "This is important in changing hearts and minds."

meh. even if i were a washington resident, it'd be a pretty small effect.

it'd mean basically that 1) a tiny bit more of my tax money is now getting wasted on top of the giant load of it that already was, and 2) the further legitimization of PC culture.

no big change.

then again, i'm pretty much always pissed off already as it is.
