I always have soup when I go to Louisiana Lagniappe. If they do not have a soup of the day (their Roasted Red Pepper soup is awesome) that I find appealing I go with the Crab and Corn Bisque.

Fish in a bag since you've never had it before.
Chipotle is also very good -

It all sounds good, I took a peek at the menu and can't decide what to get.

Can't go wrong with any of the following:

Appetizer:

Blackened Shrimp

Jumbo Gulf Shrimp, blackened and served in a pineapple rum butter sauce.

Soups:

Corn and Crab Bisque

Main Dishes:

Fresh Fish en Papillote

Filet of fresh fish topped with lump crabmeat and shrimp stuffing, baked in parchment paper and finished with a light garlic beurre blanc.

Pontchartrain

Filet of fresh fish sautéed, and topped with a fried soft shell crab, Hollandaise and honey roasted pecans and almonds.

Tournedos

Medallions of char-grilled beef tenderloin, set in garlic beurre blanc, topped with sautéed shrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat and Bérnaise sauce.

Food is consistently good. Atmosphere gets very loud. And the place gets packed. Get there early.

They have this baked oyster appettizer (can't remember the exact name) that's really good. Stuffed with crab meat and sometimes even a small scallop. We get it everytime.

As for entre, the fish in parchment paper is good as is the ponchatrain.

I'd strongly recommend this.

I like that dish but I have found on occation its too mushy.

Never had a bad experience with Pontchartrain.

I also like the red pepper bisque and the eggplant appetizer is good and not mentioned yet.

Also the Tuna entree needs to be mentioned:

Char-Grilled Tuna
Bacon wrapped yellowfin tuna set in a light garlic beurre blanc topped with jumbo lump crabmeat and Hollandaise. $29

I was planning on getting there at 7, would that be a mistake on a Tuesday night?

Even on a Tuesday the place gets packed. 7 I would expect a 20 min wait.

They have a free entree special they run for your birthday if you sign up. That is only good for the month of your birthday M-Thur. That seems to keep the place full during the week. Plus people going after work.
