Pelican's Season Ending Press Conference

Didnt know they were holding one today, saw it on twitter

Pulled this summary from PR

quote:

Gus Kattengell ?@Gkatt_17 9m
Demps asked about Gordon being here and will he listen to trade offers : if situation presented itself you have to look at it like any move

Gus Kattengell ?@Gkatt_17 8m
Demps: He (Gordon) had some ups had some downs

Gus Kattengell ?@Gkatt_17 7m
Monty says he has a summer schedule recently finished starts in 3 weeks and runs up to start of season, usually 3-4 days a week

Gus Kattengell ?@Gkatt_17 3m
Demps stays Free Agency is like college recruiting, sometimes you don't get who you want

Gus Kattengell ?@Gkatt_17 45s
"We don't have enough time" - Monty , when asked about what he needs to work on. Says Loomis has things lined up for him this summer

Gus Kattengell ?@Gkatt_17 2m
Monty says the 4th quarter collapses is something he thinks about a lot.

Gus Kattengell ?@Gkatt_17 1m
Demps says Monty gave every guy an opportunity this season and that is tough. Has a good understanding of every player on the team

Gus Kattengell ?@Gkatt_17 4m
Monty says he will talk to Popovich, Robinson, Doc, Loomis and Demps to be brutally honest about how he did

John Reid@JohnReid64Monty Williams said he made a mistake that he assumed his players knew the game.

John Reid, NOLA.com:
Dell Demps said they are going to look at every opportunity, including possibly trading Eric Gordon. He thought it was tough for Gordon coming back from injury.

Looks like nothing we dont already know

Good to see Monty consulting Pop

Also, Chris Paul basically said hes staying in LA... so maybe we can put an end to those crazy talks
quote:

The 23-year-old point guard is progressively improving and Chris Paul knows it's only a matter of time before he will be forced to play against him instead of alongside of him. "Bled is one of the best guards in our league," Paul said after practice Sunday. "I've said it all season long. I'm enjoying playing with him right now because there's no way he can be here next year because we probably won't have enough money to pay him. He should be a starting point guard in this league next year."

Bledsoe is actually under contract for next season at $2.6 million, but Paul's words may be the clearest indication yet that he fully intends to sign the five-year, $108 million contract extension the Clippers plan to offer him in the offseason. He knows as long as he is the Clippers' point guard; there simply is no room for Bledsoe. ESPN.com

Lol, is there any other Robinson's? Unless that's one of Pop's assistants or something.

I hope we ship EG for Thompson and Barnes

they can have our first round pick ( unless it's top 3)

Monty also played with him from 95-98

Maybe Monty can get him and Davis together for some offseason tutelage

The Warroirs turned down a Pierce for Barnes swap at the deadline

No way they make that move

I wish, but no shot.

GSW allegedly turned down a trade of Barnes/Jefferson (and/or Biedrins) for Paul Pierce at the deadline.

They clearly want to keep developing their young talent.

yeah I think Barnes will be a great player. He kind of reminds me of David West

Eric Gordon is 24 while Pierce is 35. How can people compare the two trades? Gordon is a present and future asset if you believe he will come good. The Truth is about to retire.

re: Pelican's Season Ending Press Conference
More details in a TP article

quote:

Loomis said the franchise is in good hands with Williams and Demps, whom both got long-term extensions before the regular season began.

``I think, most importantly, we absolutely have the right coach in Monty Williams,’’ Loomis said. ``He’s everything that we’re looking for to lead our basketball team.

``We absolutely have the right general manager in Dell Demps. He and his staff made a number of significant moves in this last offseason, and we’re looking for to having a great off-season plan from him and his staff and from Monty as well.’’

Williams said he will continue working to become a better coach, saying he plans to speak with coaches from other sports that could include some NFL coaches.

“During the season, I talk to a number of coaches, whether it be (Gregg Popovich), coach (Larry) Brown or Nate (McMillan),’’ Williams said. ``This summer I’m going to do some different things, maybe talk to some guys in different sports. Last year I got the chance to sit down and listen to (Tony) LaRussa and it was eye-opening some of the things he said that I was able to use this year.

``They were simple things. I don’t mince a lot of words when it comes to me getting better as a coach but I’m always trying to do things necessary to become a better coach. I’m excited for some of the things Mickey has lined up for me as far as being around different voices and learning from people a lot more than I do. I feel like I’m always going to be there trying to improve as a coach.’’
