So you're arguing they were FORCED to publish his part? You have no clue what you're talking about.
It's a newspaper, not a fricking PR firm. They don't specialize in damage control.
Why would they not use the quote? Learn a bit about the different types of communication before you run in here spewing uninformed thoughts

In my opinion, the football team should no longer allow the players to interview with the Reveille.
This is a topic that has already been discussed on ESPN concerning the Manti Teo stuff. It's been widely speculated that NFL locker rooms are not ready to handle openly gay players. The fact that a college football player strengthens that idea isn't really news.
I am not sure what the benefit of the article is to the Reveille aside from 15 minutes of fame before this topic is forgotten after the Spring Game.
I personally don't see anything wrong with Blue voicing his opinion. Some people don't like homosexuality and that's OK. The majority of the players would probably be more accepting to an openly gay player, but in all honesty it doesn't matter. The Reveille went into the interviews looking for a player to give them a story and one did. They ran with it like any good news outlet would, but the consequences could end up being a void in their sports section come the fall when none of the players are willing to do interviews with them.
We'll see what happens.

But why would they leave out the statement that didn't fit their agenda?
Well that's where he/they screwed up. If Blue actually said that, that should have been printed in addition to the original quote. I'll agree with you on that.

that's where you're wrong
If they all gave politically correct answers, Blue included, it still would have been a story. The story would have been "LSU players indifferent on gay football players"
It's a story either way. I don't thing there was an agenda going in, although Blue's comment makes the story controversial and therefore more page views.

not as simple as that. See Glenn Guilbeau. He's a human troll but has never and will never have his access denied. That's now how it works
Yes it is when dealing with the school newspaper. GG does not work for the school newspaper. I agree that him and other professionall media outlets are a different problem.

You realize TDR is still a news outlet, and have the same rights correct? Hence why they are suing the Board of Directors right now.
If LSU AD straight up banned TDR from football they'd be dealing with more than one lawsuit, that's how that works.

The reporter dug, and dug, and dug until he had something controversial, and then completely took the comment out of context without providing readers with what Blue said afterwards. Sensationalist bullshite, the Reveille should be ashamed.

still missing the point
I think you're trying to get at is that since the Reveille is a bottom-feeder, they should stroke LSU and pump sunshine into all the sports.
Doesn't work like that. Just because they are young, dumb and inexperienced, why should they act differentially than any other media outlet?
