Has anyone played this game? Came out on the 5th, looks like a fun time killer. Doesn't look nearly as indepth soccer-wise as FM13, but looks like it could be some fun.

I don't for sure yet, but I might try this out. I have been wanting to do something besides FIFA and I thought about FM but I might try this out instead ... it looks interesting to say the least.

It was for sale on Steam, and I was tempted

It was only like 15% off, though. I'll wait for next time

Honest Question:

how in depth is FM, I never played IRL and what I know is from what I watch, read, hear, or FIFA. Would FM put to much stress on a novice such as I or would I be able to handle it rather easily after time getting used to it? Most the time playing Manger Mode on FIFA, I find myself more intrigued with the actual managing, purchasing, etc. than I do actually playing games sometimes.

What say you about FM?

FM has no actual gameplay, so you don't have to worry about that. The games are fun to watch though.

I can't think of a clever analogy to say how much better and more in depth FM is over manager mode. It's not only more in depth, but it's so realistic with the transfers, scouting, etc

Well this is what I mean ... is it too in depth for a noob of soccer?

I wouldn't think so. You can find FM12 for cheap during a sale. I would recommend finding a cheap older version and trying it out

FM Classic, a new game mode in FM13, is a stripped down version of the game that's perfect for new guys. You pick the squads, delegate tasks (scouting, training, reserve teams, etc.), create tactics, control the transfers, and all that. You also can get an instant result in this mode (similar to simming in FIFA), which is great in meaningless friendlies.

The regular mode has a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it...you're hooked. You literally control every part of the team: training schedules, scheduling friendlies, scouting, hiring every single member of the staff, and give press conferences.

The depth is incredible, too. Literally every amateur, semi-pro, and professional league on the planet is playable with a download of an editor file or two. (The editor on the game is incredible, too.)

My favorite custom world is a ten-level US soccer pyramid, with MLS on top and regional amateur teams on the bottom.

Great way to kill time. Sometimes I like actually controlling players on FIFA, but I mostly want to play Manager Mode...and nothing beats FM in that aspect.

I'm still waiting for it to drop to under $10 before I pick it up. FM12 was on sale for $5 around this time last year

OperationSports, one of the best sports gaming sites out there, gave this Lords of Football a 4.5 out of 10 in their review today. It's light-hearted and kinda cartoony, but the execution seemed to be off.

FM is a deadly serious sim, and it's gotten 9-9.5 reviews on there in the past.

I've played FM since the 09 game came out, but I usually don't spend more than $5-10 on it since I have higher priority games in my steam wishlist...

That's me too. I almost thought about getting it on my iPhone but it was so ridiculously priced I haven't thought about it again. But I have seen many of you mention it from time to time and I have been meaning to ask y'all that question before ... then I saw this thread and figured now was as good a time as any. Anyway I think y'all have sold me and i will try to pick it up ASAP.

Thanks guys

I'm still somewhat intrigued by Lords of Football ... WSE can you watch the games being played in FM similar to what I saw in the match day video for LoF?

FM has a realistic 3D engine, yes. Go look up some match videos on YouTube.
