Just read it. Pretty cool story. I'm a little confused what the guy was expecting when he got to Madrid. Seems like he planned to get a hand out all along. Still, shows how cool of a guy Mourinho is and how close he is with SAF.

whenever im in new york in the summer i am always on the lookout for fergie. apparently he and his wife have an apartment near central park. i am always armed with my leeds kit and my 'that gordon strachan was a hell of a centre half, eh?' pick up line.

One of the best features I've read in a while.

Liked the part about Fergie still having a drink with Mou after the second leg...even though he was too angry to talk to the media.

My respect for Mou jumped quite a bit after reading that.

C'mon man. SAF and Mourinho are best frans

ETA: And, of course, according to Mourinho, he brings the good wine. Probably a nice vinho verde

But still. If I was pissed enough, I wouldn't go hang out with my best friend.

Back in Madrid's locker room, fullback Marcelo asked Rodríguez if he'd take his jersey over to United's locker room and try to trade it for Robin van Persie's. Rodríguez executed the exchange with a United trainer but decided to have some fun with Marcelo, hiding RVP's shirt behind his back and telling the Brazilian: "He said he'll exchange the jersey with someone else, but not you."

"Really?" Marcelo asked.

"I'm kidding," came the reply. "Here's the jersey."

i feel like if this is your first response to that, you should re-evaluate things.

i do. i do not agree he was a dumb arse. people often take spontaneous trips to sporting events with no tickets and hope to poach some before the event.

He certainly was, but it's not like he didn't put sweat into Real Madrid's summer tour.

He took a chance on seeing el Clasico, and he ended up with a lot more. Lots of humanity to go around.

I don't know. Mourinho is the ultimate shite talker, but he won't say a terrible thing about United, and he was very complimentary of United's play that day. That relationship is probably the ultimate managerial bromance.

Mourinho is awesome. One of the best characters in international soccer. I really hope he doesn't take over when SAF retires.
