Javi is coaching better?
More natural talent?
The Bregman "hitting is contagious" effect?
All of the above?

This isn't even a question, we have 3 new players hitting in the mid .300's to better.

It really isn't all that difficult to understand. Last year, if Rhymes and Katz didn't drive a runner home, LSU would struggle. That's what happened in the Super. Rhymes wasn't money and Katz couldn't carry the team outside of game one (also, Tyler Moore was huge in that game). This year, you don't have an Arby Fields. You replaced Nola with Bregman. You replace Tyler Hanover with the equivalent of freshmen Tyler Hanover--that is Ibarra. Laird is playing the outfield so Katz can play first. Everything works.

The better observation is how much better LSU is on defense. Outside of Rhymes and Katz (who vary from serviceable to above average), everyone is a plus defender. The arms in the outfield still aren't amazing, but the range is ridiculous. The middle infield is very strong and Ibarra has been very steady at third.

No way anyone gives Javi credit even though he deserves a good amount. At the end of the day I feel bat talent is the over whelming winner.

To the guys doing the hitting.

It's easy to teach, but hard to perform.

The first year players are the reason this team is what it is. If Javi would just leave them alone the team will be fine. Laird, Bergman, Ibarra, McMullen, all go to the plate with a hitter's mentallity. Similar to what Stoney Brook was like last year. I'm not forgetting Rhymes and Katz, those guys are always steady, but the infusion of new players, without the help of Javi came here ready to play.
