@RapSheet: Charles Woodson says on @NFL_AM he hasn't heard from Ravens "or anyone else, for that matter" in FA. Acknowledges he's considered "ancient"

If no teams have contacted him I'm pretty sure we can sign him to a one year deal that will come cheap. I say why not, what does st think?

Anything over vet minimum would be a waste in my opinion. I think the Saints could and should make a run at him, just to have a good, proven safety come in and rotate with IAQ, and whoever else we get in the draft of UDFA market. Having that experience is always a good thing.

I personally think Malcolm Jenkins would get moved back to CB if they picked up Woodson.

Woodson will turn 37 during the start of the season. I really think that he's just done for. He would probably be doing himself a favor by retiring. I don't follow the packers, but I remember hearing some rumors that he was pretty washed up last year.

The closer we get to the draft, the more I think we may draft a safety. We signed an OLB and CB, and brought in McKinney at OT, but haven't even brought in a FA safety.

Woodson would probably be a good one or two year player for us if he's at or around the vet minimum. Not sure it will happen though. We still need an OT more than a safety at this point.

I really think Jenkins would excell in a hybrid/rover position like he did his first year. corner/nickle back/safety. Move him around and let him blitz or double a slot guy or drop back and play the QB.

not ever here actually, only thing known is that he tweeted that he had some general talk with the Saints. Could have been "That much? Well thanks, we'll contact you later if things work out for us."

Ah, I thought he was actually here for a day or something like that. Anyway, we at least contacted they guy. I don't think we've talked to any safetys from what I've heard.

I wonder why Kerry Rhodes isn't getting any attention either? At least he's decently young. Since his release i can't find any news on him.

He's 31 this season. He had a good year for ARZ and is prolly out of the Saints price range. There's a real purge and squeezing going on for vets past 30. So much so that the NFLPA has questioned if collusion is going on.

I listed a buncha FAs still out there that might be on the Saints radar in the FA Aint Done thread. There's plenty more beyond those though that fit the 'still has skills but no one wants to pay' category. Most all are on the downside of 30.

I don't know. We seem to be getting FAs to take less money to play in NOLA this offseason. Wishful thinking probably, i just want a real FS.

That's true, but most of the vets still out there qualify for the max pay on the "Minimum Vet Pay" scale. May not be a real problem due to the "51 Rule" but that's something I'm not too familiar with.

rotoworld today-

Free agent Charles Woodson says he hasn't heard from "anyone" in free agency
Woodson visited the 49ers early last month, but his market has been dead silent since. Woodson previously said he felt "shunned," and now says he feels "ancient." For now, Woodson doesn't appear to be considering retirement.

I think a lot of these old guys will be squeezed after the draft. "If you wanna play ya gotta take $XXX"

If the price is right, we should sign him.

Even though they qualify for max pay, they still only count as a second year player($555,000) cap wise. That, combined with the top 51 rule, means they may only add a couple hundred thousand at most to the cap, and only for the next 2 we add I believe.
