As much as I would love for us to take someone in the first round. Would you guys be mad if we decided to trade our 1st rounder to the niners for their 31st pick and 33rd. Then use them to take Jamie Collins which would solidify our LBs and get one of the steals in this draft by taking Barrett Jones who can play any position on the line, especially LT

I think everyone would like that trade down. But Jones is not an NFL LT by any stretch, no way we should take him.

Darn I thought he was. Would Armstead from pinebluff be a reach at 33?

Not sure about THOSE two players but I like the idea of trading back. Maybe an ILB, S, or CB at 31, then nab Collins in the 2nd! Like blues said in a different 'needs' thread, the drop off at LT is big after the first 2-3 so you can probably get close to the same talent to compete in the 3rd or 4th round.

I agree, I have mentioned before that I am more excited now after a few FA's in position of needs where as before I was nervous as hell with limited picks. Butler, Lewis, and Watson (possibly Coleman) are all excellent value acquisitions at the right positions of need. Not sure the saints can go wrong with ANY defensive pick and even LT (If Johnson falls) or a WR(which I'm not really in favor of) wouldn't make me want to smash my TV into pieces

welcome aboard Lone Star. Used to do some yearly deer hunting around Jasper when I was a kid.

I'd say so. Maybe too optimistic but he could possibly be around at the Saints #75.

Trading down would hinge more on who is available at #15 and who ya think ya might could get later. If someone like Jarvis Jones, Mingo, or Lotulelei are there I think they grab the impact player that fits need.

If the BPA then is a OG, WR, QB, etc a trade back would be more likely. There's no figuring trades though. It may look good for your team but there has to be a willing trade partner. Of the BPAs on the board some other teams has to want to make the move for them. That is not near as easy as some of the Madden-;like trades that get suggested here. Yours is perfectly viable in value btw.

The kind of reach where you are reaching so far you fall over.

Since our secondary has been one of the worst in the NFL and our Linebackers have been inconsistent getting older and banged up from injuries that's why. Harper can't cover Jenkins had a down year and is somewhat playing out of position. You know the deal with our cornerbacks and Lofton was our only bright spot at LB besides casillas who is now a member of Tampa Bay. How would drafting a CB, S, or LB not make since?

Too risky taking a LT at #15

Obviously they have a number of teams in mind that may want to move up. They have always had a good relationship with New England on draft day and they could be looking for a WR or DL. If they dont covet any of the talent left at 15 then I do think they will fall back. There were rumors when Sed Ellis was drafted that they were looking to move back before selecting him, but couldn't find a suitor to do so and took him. Hopefully they learned their lesson on that one.

That depends on whether or not a top 15 worthy LT is available at 15. Like it or not, with Bushrod gone, LT is a position of need for the Saints.
