Personally, I'm very excited. It doesn't seem to be linear at all with some old school feel.

This is a subscription based MMO. So no, not linear, and not turn based.

They greatly improved the game before shutting it down to get ready for 2.0. I don't have a lot to base it on, but I really like this game.

It did have some of the worst characters of any video game though.
Lightning was a female Cloud. She was alright.
I liked Vanille and Fang.
I absolutely despised Hope and Sazh. Whiney pussies the entire game.

Yea well I had it from launch. I quit about 4 months in. I love FF and I let myself play for too long, when I wasn't enjoying it. But really I haven't loved an MMO since SWG pre CU. So I am picky.

It would have to be amazing for me to even consider playing this. If it doesn't beat GW2, count me out, cuz GW2 is free

They have moved further and further towards linear. . .to the point where you make zero decisions. You are just playing out a strict narrative.

I didn't find Hope all that whiney, but he's a common complaint. First I've seen a complaint about Sazh though.

But the game also has, you know, gameplay. It's not like you can continue along the game without making strategic decisions and using paradigms correctly. This complaint is easily exaggerated and can be stretched to cover a lot of blanket statements.
