Nothing really new, but here are some of the stories that are being reported on the Nnamdi/Porter situation.

Sports World News
WWL

quote:

ESPN.com's Bill Williamson says the Saints are eyeing Porter as a back-up plan in case the team can't land Nnamdi Asomugha.

quote:

the Saints have been making headlines trying to recruit Nnamdi Asomugha to Nola. While the cornerback explores his options, the Saints are setting themselves up with a backup plan, bringing in former-Saint, Tracy Porter, for a visit.

quote:

Porter is also getting attention from the Oakland Raiders and surely will not sign anywhere until Asomugha does. The Saints like the potential at the reunion, but their first choice is Asomugha and will wait to make a move once they hear from him.

Someone posted a rumor in another thread that the Saint's offer was slightly higher than SF's, so if true I wonder if this will light a fire under Nnamdi to decide sooner knowing what little cap space we have.

I don't think us contacting Porter has anything to do with Nnamdi's decision. He'll get paid regardless.

I think it has more to do with this:

quote:

The cornerback is reportedly torn with whether to sign with the Saints or the San Francisco 49ers. Asomugha started his career out in California, playing for Cal and then later with the Oakland Raiders. A chance to head back out west could be what he needs to restart his career. However, the Saints have Ryan who is Asomugha's former coach when he played for Oakland. The two were very successful working with each other which could prove fruitful for the Saints if he chooses them.

Then just sign Porter and save some cash.

As long as we sign someone who has two consonants to start his first name I will be happy.

I'm starting to feel this way, too.

This dance is getting annoying.

So what do we do with Greer's contract. Too much money to pay a nickel or dime corner.

Do you seriously think Greer wouldn't be starting?

I wish Nnamdi would just make his decision already, would suck if we wait to long to sign Porter and he goes to Oakland and Nnamdi ends up going to 49ers and we miss out on both.

That's what I've been worried about, along with missing out on Butler for waiting around on Nnamdi.

Nnamdi was terrible in Philly. He is a total head case. I'm an eagles fan and couldn't stand his arse. I like the saints so I hope y'all go with porter
