Does anyone who has a yukon or tahoe know if I switch to synthetic the gauge that gives % for oil life will increase on its own or does the dealer change it?

As far as I know, it just goes by mileage. If the mechanic doesn't reset it, the change oil thing stays on. Synthetic wouldn't do anything to it
My buddy's dad leased a Maxima a while back, and had to turn it back in with like 80k miles. He hadn't done a single service to it since he leased it. No oil, filter, fluid, wipers, belts, brakes........nothing. Feel bad for the guy who buys that thing
I normally go 6k btwn changes

I was under the impression that it measured the cleanliness of the oil. At least that's something along the lines of what the dealer told me. I have a 2011 silverado and run synthetic and at 3000 miles it is at 50%, so there may be some merit behind what he said. I don't go over 5000 regardless.

Sounds way over the heads of GM engineers. If they subbed it out maybe so, but on their own, no way.
I know for a fact that the one on this Tahoe just goes by mileage. Change it, and the thing still says change oil. Reset it, and it goes off
