Through 23 games Katz has 37 RBIs, is he on pace to set any records? He has to be, right?

Probably not only because of this new dead bat era.

I believe Brandon Larson had 15,487 RBI for LSU in 1997.

ETA: It was actually 118 RBI in a 70-game season ( LINK), but I was close.

I'm sure somebody had nearly 37 HRs through 23 games in the 90s

Joking, but not really.

Larson had 118 in 70 games. That comes out to 1.69 RBIs per game. Katz is at 1.61. Close, but I'm not sure he can sustain that throughout the year.

FWIW, that means he had about 39 RBI through 23 games. If Katz has a 70 game season, he's on pace to be close to it.

Katz should have the benefit an * by his HR record; the crappy bats make it so much more impressive.

They still use the -3's. It's the BBCOR that don't have near the pop as the old BESR bats.

ETA: why is this thread anchored?

118 rbis on 110 hits. That's just stupid. .865 slugging 40 bombs. Man the entire starting lineup had double digit home runs! Bring back the -5's!!

Why the anchor?

If you extrapolate Larson's HR/RBI numbers to the length of a major league season (162 games), it would be 92 HRs and 273 RBI.
