This is a long question that boils down basically to how accurate you want the rifle to be. Unbedded wood stocks are suceptable to weather, which can cause warping and change point of impact. This problem can be solved by replacing the stock or bedding the stock with pillars or fiberglass. Most synthetic stocks that come from the factory are injection molded plastic that wont change with weather conditions. After market synthetic stocks are usually made from fiberglass and contail an aluminum bedding system.

If you can put three shots in a 1 inch group at 100 yards I wouldnt worry too much about it. But if you are shooting all over the paper a number of things could be wrong.

The problem with recoil isnt in the stock, but in the recoil pad. If it bothers you that much and you dont want to have a custom pad installed, get a slip on.

I'm confused now

quote:

The bill, which was amended twice in the Senate, now returns to the House of Representatives for concurrence. The House faces a March 28 deadline to accept the amendments and pass the bill as it exists, or decline to concur and invite conference to work out differences. If it goes to conference, the House and Senate would each select three conference committee members to meet and work on a compromise.

specifies that only those seasons after Nov. 30 will be included.

I have a CVA Elite Stalker with synthetic stock. It shoots great and that is all I hunt with. Hope you like it.

Re: the MS bill - you'll be able to hunt with whatever "legal" rifle you choose if it passed. Some hunters have been hunting with the 35 Whelen all year because it is a beast.

Yes, it does pack a wallop. You'll notice it sighting it in. When you are blowing deer off their hooves, you won't notice a thing.

The weapon of choice passed in Ms.The way I understand it is that you still have to buy a Prim weapon license to hunt during Prim Weap season. The law applies to private landowners and clubs....Oh...Get you a laminate stock for you 35.I have one on my 35 and the wifes 45/70....best of both worlds. Here is a link to bill in question on Ms. Weapon of Choice

Thinkinng about selling mine. I hunt Mississippi. Just may not need it. Sell it and buy something I can use. Bought 5 months ago shot one deer ad less than a box out of it.

I would keep it.The market will be flooded with them.Besides....the 35 is an awesome deer caliber.I hunt with mine quite a bit during gun season.

Just a thought. Hard for me to sell a gun so I doubt I will. The price on them was cheap enough I probably will keep it. Not like I am going to get several hundred to put towards a nice bolt action or something.

Getting a primitive weapon before next year, to hunt in LA and MS. Want a 35 whelen, but I don't want to buy it if I won't be able to use it during primitive season. So what should I get? 35 whelen or 45-70?

You can still use it no matter what. The proposed bill will allow any rifle to be used in Miss. during primitive season.
