re: Anthony Jennings playing this year? (a discussion, not a news story)

I'd compare him more to a Russell Wilson college-type QB. He has the ability to run the option from time to time. But, he's a pro-style passer.

I watched his practice in college, read the practice reports, and seen what the LSU coaches have said about him.

That is more than just HS highlights. He clearly has the fastest release on the team in videos, clearly throws a great ball, and we know he's athletic and wowing his own teammates.

I'm allowed to compare him to someone with similar body and base skillset.

I never dubbed him an NFL MVP. You need to pump the fricking brakes.

I'm not suggesting that he is. I'm not going to get weak in the knees over someone who hasn't played yet.

Plenty of great HS players have come to major universities and played for great coaches and still failed. It happens all the time. I hope, and think, that this is not the case for Jennings. I also believe he has the chance to be something great for LSU.

Throw when no one is covering them?
No presuure from defense?
You managed to come to this whole conclusion about AJ from the 7-8 throws that B.B.I has released?


I hope the kid is all world as I do all LSU's players, but my God some of you waste absoultley zero time annointing them.
In order to be a VYoung, CNewton, Tebow caliber player you have to better than good,, everybody on the field is good.
You have to be the best player on the field as those 3 were... NObody here knows this about these young guys at this point.

I do.

Its spring practice guys its to early to make a depth chart but what I can say is that Mett is the starter and there is a 99.9999% chance (provide healthy) he will remain the starter. Rivers is next in line however, Jennings is showing a lot of promise and will more than like see playing time next season due to the versatility he brings. Rettig may red-shirt solely because the coaching staff wants Jennings to have an immediate impact. Bolden I don't know what is up with him. based on what I watched he hasn't looked to hot passing the ball.

I checked all 4 major rating services last year. all 4 had rettig ranked higher than jennings. a couple of them substantially higher and final rankings came out in January. so much for rating services and star gazers.

That doesn't mean a hill of beans what matters to coaches now is performance in practice and its obvious that Jennings is out performing Rettig in spring ball.
