How long do termite treatments REALLY last?

I've done some research and I've gotten replies from 3 years to 13 years. My pest control people says it's 5 years. It's been about 5 since my last one.

There seems to be quite the gap between what they are saying and some others are saying.

2 things:

1. Yes, I know everything i read on the internet is true.....

2. Is my pest company just trying to get me to ditch out the extra $1500 when the last treatment is still working?

It depends.

Termidor is lifetime.

Everything else, not so much.

Who is your pest control company?

We retreat after 9 years. Sometimes sooner depending on water issues (irrigation systems/poor drainage).

I got a termite bond back in Jan and they used Sentricon and it was only 1200.00 and it lasts forever(I think)

Yep. If i am going to be liable for damages on a home it will be retreated regularly. Termidor's label says 10 years by the way. In ideal conditions you can get longer life out of it.

As far as lifetime goes, houses my grandfather treated years ago with chlordane are still fine lol.

Edit for new numbers: on basf's website they give a 10year rec. On termidor.

This isn't a treatment, not really applicable. It's a good system that can eliminate and prevent termites from attacking your house. If your house has termites, you will need a spot treatment at least.

Termidor doesn't last forever. FYI.

I use Terminix. Got the treatment two years ago and pay the $200 guarantee each year. It guarantees that if I have any new termite damage, they have to pay for 100% of the repairs. Insurance doesn't cover termites so I figure a $200/year "insurance" policy is worth it. If I have to pay $1,000 - 1,500 every 5, 6, or 7 years to have the house retreated, I'm happy.

Right. No matter what/who you use get a damage warranty contract instead of a retreat-only contract. Otherwise the only thing the company is liable for if you have a problem is to retreat. You're out of pocket for damages.
