Biutiful is pretty uplifting

depressing as hell. Bardem is fantastic as usual.

I love foreign movies, but all the ones I've watched are quite brutal and probably not what you want to show.

The original Swedish versions of the 3 Stieg Laarson "Millenieum Series" (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Girl who Played with Fire, Girl Who kicked a Hornets Nest). Talk about "the human experience". All 3 are much darker and contemplative than the US version of GWTDT turned out to be.

Plus as "Lisbeth" Noomi Rapace > Rooney Mara.

While I did enjoy these, I like the US version more. I also thought Rooney killed it while Noomi was just adequate.

Just keep them away from any razor blades because that is one depressing film.
