The blower motor in my truck is getting ready to quit life. It's squealing, cutting out and coming back on, bogging down, and making some bad noises.
Question is-do I REALLY have to take the glovebox out to get the blower out?

My 05 is under the dash kind of behind the glove box. Mine does not require taking the glove box out unless I am looking at it wrong I am probably fixing to have to replace mine for simaliar stuff.
Not that this really helps you and your 94..

Mine is horizontal instead of vertical. Looks like the glove box is going to be in the way

Shoot some oil at it might buy you some time if the oil can get to the bearings.

Might do that. I won't be able to pull anything apart until tomorrow though.
ETA: Any way to get oil on it without taking stuff off? I can't see any.

I'll try that. Don't really have anything to loose at this point. It won't run on anything but high anymore, and it sounds very bad

Taking your glove box out isn't just folding the sides in to release, and unbolting two bolts?

Hell idk. I've never taken one out. This little hayes manual I have isn't much help at all. It give you three steps
1)disconnect battery ground
2)remove blower motor
-note:you may have to remove glove box
3)installation is reverse of removal

On all of the non-German glove boxes I've seen, there are little tabs, one on each side, that hold the glove box in. They are on the side above the hinges. Push them in and rotate the box away from the firewall
That allows your glove box to spin towards the floor and not stop. After that, unbolt the bolts where it hinges, and viola, removed glove box

Ill look at it this evening. It can't be THAT hard. My main concern is all this old arse plastic though. I've had very bad luck fooling with anything plastic on this truck. It's very close to 20 years old.

My dad had a 96 Chevy half ton, it had the same problem, I don't remember it being difficult at all to take the glove box off. I'm having lunch with him today, ill ask him about it.

no. Blower motor resistors on Chevy trucks has for a long time been a common problem. It sounds like both your resistor and motor are bad.

I suspected the resistor might me bad. I'm almost 100% positive the blower is bad because its making some "I'm about to blow up" noises when it does run.
Guess is should just get both. Thought they came together.
