What's the rule about catching your limit one day then staying out overnight and fishing the next day? I mean, are they going to force us to burn all that fuel running in? There has to be some provision about this, no ?

You might wanna call the LDWF for verification but I'd bet they would count any/all snapper on board towards your single daily limit. If you do talk to LDWF please post so we can know. Thanks.

Bring a grill and take care of day one limit on board.

There isn't an aggregate limit on snapper. You are only allowed one day's worth.

I would swear reading numerous times over the years that overnighters took 2 day limits. Might depend on if there are 2 licensed captains on-board? Then again, they busted one of the best known captains a few years ago with 900 plus snapper on-board, so there might be some question in some people's minds.

Burn all your fuel? WTF? If you're burning all your fuel running out 10 miles I'd suggest a different vessel. If you plan on catching a limit and continuing south, once you cross 10.3 miles you're illegal in state and federal eyes. You can clean and eat a pound of fish on an overnight trip.

Pretty sure you need a licensed captain to have 2 limits on boat

You need 2 licensed Captains and a trip plan for a charter to catch multiple daily limits on a trip ETA: The Captains may not possess a limit in the aforementioned situation ETA2: trust me, it sucks when you're offshore from Thursday Morning till Saturday afternoon for a rodeo and you can only keep one limit!

If your boat has a galley and you are able to cook, you can have 1lb of clean fish per person on board at any time. Fishing with two days limits. Charter boats can do this only if there are two captains on board. If you are a lic charter boat captain and have another one on board, you good to go. Oh, forgot. At this time, Fed waters are closed and if you leave state waters with redsnapper and go into Fed waters, they will bust you. No difference then having redfish out in Fed waters.

Why you want to throw an 18# fish back for a 20# one? Cerviche is really good on the boat.

I never leave the dock without it Also, IMO, soy sauce or lime juice should qualify for the "provided the vessel is equipped to cook such finfish" (and its 1.5lb/person)

Burn all your fuel? WTF?
I know, right. I burn 36 gal/hr and run from the Jordan River to the rigs southeast of Chandeleur. Last summer on the way back in it was $880 in fuel alone plus oil (twin Yamaha OX66 250s) every time we went. Wish I could trailer my boat to the south tip of the island Anyway, I do have a galley on board and I am a captain. We'll see how it goes this time around. In Mississippi, we can't start till 6/1 anyways...
