If you are asking this question, then the answer is yes.

Think about that...

I thought the title here was 'midgets good to eat' when I first glanced at it.

Flathead bait. Cut off ones top and side fins with a pair of skinning pliers, and hook him through the back live. Put him on the closest hook to the stump on your trotline.

Thank me later.

In cold water they're as good as spotted cats. I picked up a hoop net Saturday that had 39. You bet ur azz I kept them. Cleaned/fillets some, gave most away. They're not greasy. When you skin 'em they look ugly as shite. A lot of red. Let them soak in water in fridge. They'll be white as spots.

I kept some smaller ones to freeze for crab bait but there were some 2-3 lbers in there.

Some Goshong's or whatever the French word for them are. Fry them next to any other catfish and you won't know.

Yeah, I can't say for sure because I have never tried one, but all I've ever heard was to avoid them.

I did watch a guy skin one out once and the meat was a fatty yellow color. That would lead me to believe the "greasy" comment.

I've been told that in the summer/warm water they aren't good.

I give most of the fish I catch away and I fish the river so I usually have some flat heads in the freezer but once and a while I'll clean some to cook fresh.

That is disgusting.
Luckily I'm not a terrible enough fisherman to have to eat mudcat.
