Except today Wright got me excited thinking we started off an inning with back to back base hit but the 2nd baseman got the ball and threw the batter out.

"That's a grounder into right field for a base hit.. stopped by the 2nd baseman.. throw to 1st for the out."

How is that different from Hawthorne?

Because it doesn't happen twice an inning.

Hawthorne would have made you believe it was leaving the park.

I don't really like Hawthorne and I liked Wright this weekend.

Just saying.. that pissed me off like Hawthorne does.

Hawthorne's downfall lately has been his complaining about the length of the game. It's like he doesn't want to be there. Any time a pitcher starts taking too long or trying multiple pickoff attempts he becomes a bitter old man. If a game lasts longer than 2 hours then he starts bitching.

Hawthorne makes it tough to listen to the games. The calls this weekend have been objectively better.

I'm sure there will be no shortage of rabid Hawthorne supporters rushing to this thread to defend his honor.

Its been ok but Hawthorne's mistakes are actually somewhat enjoyable. Adds some unintentional humor. Plus I miss Charles.

Don't get me wrong, Hawthorne deserves his respect. But he just seems to be slipping the last few years. But he's been a staple in LSU athletics for years.

Jesus Christ, give it a rest. it doesn't effect your life any if he mis-called a play twice then immediately corrected himself. Hawthorne does a lot of brodcasting, I'm sure it ain't easy to talk consistently for 4 straight hours.

If the only way of knowing what is going on in the game is listening to it on the radio, it certainly affects you if you aren't getting an accurate interpretation.

Personally, I enjoy the emotion Hawthorne gives the broadcast.

I'm a radio listener too, it doesn't bother me one bit if those guys make a mistake every once in a while. Its not an easy job.

You'd be missing him no matter what. Charlie doesn't do road games..

His range of emotions stretches from angry to bitter, I don't enjoy that.

I like Charles, but personally I think he's a bore when he does baseball.

I love Hawthorne's voice.. which is why it sucks that he's old and sucks now.

J, you're right about Hanagriff.. and that's why LSU needs to find an outside hire once Hawthorne retires. Just for football and basketball. I don't mind promoting Wright to full time baseball.
