I enjoy Hawthorne. His emotions pretty much reflect the game.

I think a lot of people dislike Hawthorne because they need someone to blame when things don't go well. It is the same overt immaturity that you find during the in game threads on this board. People need someone to blame. They can't handle the disappointment.

That's absurd. People dislike Jim calling baseball games because his announcing doesn't illustrate what's happening in the games. Watching on Geaux Zone while listening to him announce really illustrates the disparity. He's just objectively bad at calling baseball.

Or Inside LSU Football when they show highlights with Hawthorne's call. It's really bad.

The day has come when you can't listen to a raidio broadcast of a baseball game without bitching about it. Lighten up -don't sweat the small stuff. Yes-it's small stuff

I'm a radio listener too, it doesn't bother me one bit if those guys make a mistake every once in a while. Its not an easy job.

I've enjoyed Jim for a long time! He does make frequent mistakes but it can be just laughed off. I think it's kinda like fussing at the refs... If you ever try doing their job it will often change your opinion of them.

I like Hawthorne.
Who I don't like was the guy today who was calling the game like it was golf! Sheesh.

I agree; If the only way one has to follow the game is listening to JH, they will not get an accurate interpritation of it. I used to keep a score card based on the radio broadcast but finally quit in frustration.
