Miles said redshirt freshman Jerald Hawkins (6-6, 300) will get a look at the position but that another backup plan is to move sophomore Vadal Alexander (6-6, 350) from right tackle. That would set the dominoes tumbling.

Incoming freshman Ethan Pocic (6-7, 285) would get a look at right tackle in that event. Pocic, who enrolled in January and will participate in spring practice, is also a candidate at left guard if the Collins move works out. Ideally, he will be the sixth offensive lineman and be given a chance to grow without the pressure of starting.

Miles said Williford (6-7, 332) appears to have recovered from the concussion he suffered against Florida, although he hasn't played since. Given his experience (19 starts), he's a prime candidate to start at left guard. As a bonus, he has been taking snaps at center as backup to junior Elliott Porter (6-4, 300).

But Miles said sophomore Dillon Gordon (6-5, 280) has shed some weight and is ready to step in as a better receiving alternative.

Awesome. He's a ridiculous all-around athlete. He could really help the offense by being a dual purpose TE and giving us the ability to disguise run v pass by personnel a little better.

Am I the only one that cant help at laugh at this?? No offense to Project, but thinking this offense will disguise or confuse everyone is just funny as hell

that really is the key, isn't it? the problem with packaging plays for personnel is transparancy.

get better.

All he said was that we could disguise "by personnel", meaning if we have a dual-threat TE, we can leave him in the game for either running or passing plays so that the other team won't be able to tell which we're doing based on which TE is in the game. Makes sense to me, if that's what he's saying.

That's exactly what I was saying. Some people are too far up their own arse with their opinions about the offense to comprehend anything though.

on the flip....I many times knew exactly what bama was going to run and we all know how that ended. the article in question is about what changes and progress our oline is making and, again, if we can get to the level of play sustained by the '12 bama oline we are going to be a load.

get better.

The openings are at left tackle and center. Left tackle Chris Faulk blew out his knee after the first game and surprised the coaching staff by entering the NFL draft anyway. Miles and the staff might have tried harder to develop another player there had they known.

Hopefully Collins can step in a play well. These dudes are huge. Can't wait to see them mauling d lines up front.

Come on guys, yall still don't get it by now. "Huge" doesn't equate to being a great and efficient offensive line. Can they pass block? Can they all learn the calls and who to block and can they pick up blitzes? Who's gonna be the Center and make all those initial calls? The Center position scares the hell out of me. Not convinced Porter can hold up in the S.E.C. against the Big Boys. Having Stud back FT will help, but despite all the OL "size", there are concerns about their ability to play together as one unit.
