Victor Howell dropping some knowledge:
We've all noticed how bad he is down the stretch. I don't understand why he turns to forcing bad shots once the game gets down towards the end.

@HowellOnCST: W/ less than 5:00 to play & tied or down by 5 or less GV has taken 58 FG's (made 15). Gordon, Anderson & Davis have taken 54 COMBINED!!!

Maybe if our best player could score more than 3 total points in 6 games when it counts we could try him

This, and our offense gets really stagnant down the stretch. It's pretty much iso while 4 guys stand around.

I hated we started walking ever possession with 6 min to go. Was just terrible bballl

At the end of games, you can usually see Ryan Anderson working really hard to try to get open and Eric Gordon kind of running into a defender and bobbing his head to look like he's trying to get open.

I didn't understand that at all. We were playing great, why change anything?

Pressure bursts pipes. It doesn't help when it looks like they have an option A drawn up, and if that's covered, plan B is a Vasquez prayer.

I surprised that gordon stat gets no attention but also goes show u everyone knows we fricked up giving him max

I don't get it, either. It's the equivalent of the prevent defense in football combined with the "3 dives and punt" offense. We basically throttled back to the point of a stall.

that gordon stat
Which Gordon stat?

He's only scored 3 points in the last 6 games in the 4th Q or something like that

Ya 3 combined points.
But we who say he disappears are irrational

this...he is forced to try to score in the 4th when teams deny the pass on Anderson's roll, and Gordon is invisible.
Vasquez is not an elite scorer clearly...I think he plays best when looking to pass or allowing Gordon to drive, create, and kick to him (it looked great in the first half). When Gordon disappears, Vasquez is forced to do too much.

NBA players step up their D in the 4th, especially in a comeback situation (in the game and in the standings).
I agree though. Monty and the team needed to relax and stick to what was working (could have started with playing Davis).

In Gordon's defense, on the occasions that he runs the point in those situations, Vasquez is standing over in the corner. Last night, Gordon got an assist to him on a 3 (after Gordon was tripped by a Laker going to the basket). Unfortunately, I think that's by design.

That is the way the offense needs to go, with Gordon at the point trying to make something happen late in games. He is faster than Vasquez will every been and has just as good of handles as Vasquez. I hate seeing Gordon just sitting in the corner doing nothing as if the play is not being run for him. Last night was the first time that Gordon was really given the chance to do something but when you don't touch the ball for like 7 minutes and are expected to produce late, I don't blame the struggle on Gordon at all.

Gordon needs to be able to produce after 7 minutes of rest/not touching the ball.
