I'll admit that I was not a fan of the change to the name "Pelicans" but I didnt have any other clear cut favorites either. I actually have become a fan of the name now. I am looking forward to the full transition to New Orleans Pelicans.
Anyone else feeling better about this change?

I was originally disappointed by the logo, but it's grown on me. The name change will sink in when we seen uniforms, court designs, and then eventually playing a game as the Pelicans. The phrase "Peli's" will never sound good to me though

I think they've been pushing Pels (heard Jen Hale and Joel Meyers both say it recently), but I agree, that will never grow on me (Pels, that is) .

Pelicans is embarrassing. So much so that I think it will affect their ability to get free agents. Don't underestimate the players' pride or "swagger" as they call it these days. I just can't see a 24 year old kid saying "I'm proud to be a Pelican".

Pels/Pelis is really the only part that will bother me. It's like the Bees thing. It does illustrate one of the drawbacks I saw to the name: Pelicans does not roll off the tongue.

But those kids are clamoring to say "I'm proud to be a Nugget" or a Heat, Thunder, Magic, Wizard, etc.
I think the name is okay, they could have done better, but they could have done worse. And IMO they did a great job w/ the logos and word marks.
Some people will laugh for a few months, but like with anything else the team's play on the court will determine if it is cool or not.

I think they are pushing it a little soon...but it's not like this team has much to play for the rest of this season anyway.

I hate the name and don't know if it will ever grow on me. They could've came up with something better than Pelicans. I think they just settled for a name and really didn't think outside of the box to come up with something unique.
I'll just refer to the team as New Orleans or NOLA.
