They can have it if they want it. I hate how Bud Adams didn't give oilers back to Houston instead they are the Houston Texans .

If the Kings move to Seattle and Charlotte changes back to Hornets we could have

Thunder vs Sonics and Pelicans vs Hornets

If Jazz changed their name we would have this together the next day, don't act like this is bad.

I'm sure something can be worked out through compensation.

It doesn't make any business sense for Benson to give them the name. Time to make a deal.

Too bad the NBA owns all that stuff. Tom has some influence and a stake, but the NBA handles branding.

It would be extremely shitty of the NBA to allow them to just rebrand like that. I honestly don't see Stern going for it. It would cause harm to Benson's financial interest by creating market confusion. If it happens, it won't happen for a few years.

I actually highly doubt we would. The Jazz name is tainted. I don't want it back. It wasn't exactly a spectacular name, anyway.

They actually miss all the bee puns about a team named the Hornets?

Nothing strikes fear into an opponent than a Bee-Zanies' Bee-fense chant.

If Charlotte never gets the Hornets back for whatever reason, do the Pelicans wear Hornets jerseys as throwbacks, or do they stick with the Bucs?

Don't have a problem with it. I don't want to do to them like Utah did to us. Hornets mean nothing locally to me.

I think Charlotte should get the name back.

Maybe wait a year to avoid confusion, but most fans will know what is up immediately. Hornets means something to Charlotte (a nickname from the Revolutionary War) and my understanding is that they have never really liked the Bobcats name.

New Orleans got to pick a new name and Charlotte gets the old one back. It is nice to see something that is actually a win-win.

In general I think it is better for teams to just re-brand when they move, especially if the original name had some kind of special meaning for the first location.
