Lets not lose hope for our team bros

We have a very young team and our best two players have been battling injuries. We have one of the best young GMs in the league and Monty has done very well developing the young guys on this team. Look at the steps Aminu has made. Lets be realistic here, we were going to be a lotto team again this year. I knew it from the start. Next year will be much better with more improvement

I havent lost hope I am just pissed we blew a 17 point lead at home to a real crappy team. There are no excuses for that. Simply poor basketball.

Amen.
Rebuilding takes time. Last year was really year Zero. This is the first year of the rebuild. It took OKC three years, with 4 high lottery picks, to get into the playoffs.
Assuming health, I think they should battle for, not necessarily get, a playoff spot next year. If they arent in the playoffs by year 3, Monty is gone.

They need substantial improvement next season or I'm convinced Benson/Loomis will make some sort of move. I don't think they'll be foolish, but I do think their timetable may be a year or so shorter than ours has been.

While the potential is there, my biggest concerns is our defense still misses pretty easy rotations.
I think one reason I'm not as optimistic as before season is becAuse while knowing we were young, we are seeing the Gordon signing has a bigger chance to be a bust than help.
We are holding out hope that he's still not game shape and next year it will click.

Im seeing too many "fire monty" posts. I even question what he does on the court sometimes, but then again, every coach gets questioned here and there. He's doing a hell of a job developing the young players and keeping them poised. Too many first year starters/players to put all the blame on the coach. Like someone said ^up in the thread, Wait till year 3 till we make a decision on monty.

substantial improvement
Thats the rub. Is it a 10 win increase, 42 wins, playoffs, 6 seed?
What if they move Gordon/Vasquez/Lopez and remake the roster (again)?
Not giving Monty a free pass, but things are very unsettled. What they do this summer will be telling.

I have not lost hope in general. I think we have pieces to be good down the road.
But I have lost hope with a few specifics:
1) I have lost hope of us being very competitive the rest of this season. This season is pretty much over to me, I'm looking forward to the off-season (a make-or-break off-season for Demps, IMO)
2) I have lost all hope with Eric Gordon ever contributing much to this team, even to get return for in the hopefully inevitable trade coming after this season.
The Eric Gordon re-signing was a terrible move (in hindsight, admittedly) and if he sticks around, will be a large hindrance of us ever taking that next step in being competitive.
